The coxswain's role is pivotal to the success and well being of the team. From relatively "simple" tasks like getting the boat to the water and steering the boat on the water, to more complex responsibilities like motivating the team during practices and races, and initiating strategies, there's a lot that goes into making a great cox. A coxswain should ALWAYS bring layers...You are more than likely going to get wet... so come prepared. Bring a change of clothes. We row in the cold and the rain. You have to be focused at all times on the boat (not how cold or wet you are).
You will need the following in your "coxswain kit":
1. Flashlight
2. Duggar
3. 7/16 and 3/4 wrench (or a tool that has both)
4. Waterproof athletic tape for quick fixes and for your rower's hands
5. Small first aid kit
6. Your laminated drill card and workout sheet
